Batburn is and artist-ld label for the alternative side of MTG. We team up with independant artists to make limited-run sleeves and gear that look the way the game feels to us.
The game lives in local game stores around cramped tables and late-night drafts. That's who we build for. We want to help thos spaces grow and bring smaller artists up with them, one drop at a time.
My Story
Im Isaac, and Batburn started with the art.
I found Magic The Gathering at 14 with my cousin in Waterstones. We opened a few packs, had no idea how to play, and loved the cards anyway. Years of drafts and Friday Night Magic followed, and I'm still collecting.
With collecting came the accessories and what I never found were products that had the same darker fantasy art that I loved in the Magic cards. So I had to make my own for my Nekusar deck, then wondered who else might want some. #
Design is where I started, first as a logo and graphic designer, then in business where a uni project grew into a boxing glove brand with an alternative twist. Batburn is the next step, built on what these lessons taught me.
The first drop started like always with the art. I found Carlos on Instagram, sent him a rough brief(I like warlocks and wizards) and left him room to run. That became the first run, Varyn ap Nox (the name is a nod to my welsh roots).
It isn't only about the money, though it would be nice. Its about making something I would play with or use, backing artists, and building something solid.
